Kansas City, KS – Design Mechanical, Inc. (DMI), celebrating its five years of business, announces today its addition of the Refrigeration Group. This, along with its recent remodel of their new headquarters located off of I-35 and Cambridge Circle, is another milestone in the success of its business plan.
The company has purchased the new space to accommodate their solid, yet accelerated growth since their start-up in September of 2003. In their first five years of business the company has seen their revenue increase to over $22 million annually. Their need for operational space has increased as well, with their newest addition of the Refrigeration Group.
“We saw the chance to grow our business, as well as help these guys by providing stable employment,“ said President William J. Iler. “The opportunity came at a great time for us, since we just built our new facility for our future expansion.”
The Refrigeration Group will be spearheaded by industry veteran of 45+ years, John Williams. Along with Mr. Williams, come Service Manager Chet Whitford and Construction Manager Paul Lauer, both with over 30+ years in the industry. The focus of the Refrigeration Group will mainly be supermarket refrigeration, as well as cooler and freezer service, maintenance and installation. The Refrigeration Group will add 20 employees to the organization.

In addition to the company’s charted business success, DMI has also received significant recognition within the HVAC industry. In 2005, DMI was the first in the area to achieve MSCA Star Certification. This certification is given by the Mechanical Service Contractors Association to those HVAC service companies who have a proven track record of hiring certified technicians, safety, education and customer service.
The overall success of DMI is also evident by their recognition as the Kansas City, Kansas Chamber of Commerce’s 2005 “New Small Business of the Year” Award – given to DMI for their “Business Success, Entrepreneurial Success and Philanthropic Mindset”. They were also recently named among Ingram Magazine’s “2008 Best Companies to Work For”, and named #50 in their “Corporate Report 100”.
