The Hertzog family has been raising cattle in Jackson County for over 125 years. As a livestock producer, the Hertzog’s wanted to open their first meat processing operation to provide their premium beef products directly to the public.
DMI was honored to be tasked with designing, engineering, and installing the refrigeration equipment for their plant. A task that included a harvesting room, hot box cooler, aging room, a freezer, and a full retail space. The customer was acting as the general contractor, so it was important for Design Mechanical to provide the Hertzog’s with a hassle-free experience throughout the project.
The project was completed on time, under budget and the customer passed their USDA inspection on the first attempt. No small task considering this was their first facility and there is over 8500 sq feet of refrigerated space under one roof. In less than six months their operation has been contracted to provide beef to regional grocers and locally owned restaurants throughout the area. The streamlined and efficient central operating system provided all the refrigeration needs in the summer months at nearly half of their electrical budget, saving them thousands.
Now that construction is complete, Design Mechanical’s service team continues to inspect and maintain their equipment. DMI will make sure their operation is running smoothly well into the future. If you have refrigeration needs, big or small, contact Design Mechanical and work with our experts to ensure that it’s done right.
